Read this site in your language
Free. Your shop speaks a few languages; there are six thousand. This module adds a discreet block at the bottom of your pages where visitors pick their own. No external script is loaded: the module only writes links.
The problem
A Japanese, Polish or Brazilian visitor lands on a page they cannot read. They leave. You will never know they came.
Publishing twenty languages is not the answer: it is endless work, and the twenty-first will always be missing.
What this module does
It adds a discreet block at the bottom of your pages: a globe, one line, and a menu of forty-two languages. Visitors pick theirs, the page opens translated in a new tab. Your shop stays open in the first one, cart intact.
Languages are written in their own language — “Deutsch”, “Polski”, “日本語”. That detail decides everything: a Polish visitor does not look for “Polish” in an English list, they look for “Polski”.
A second line, always in English, reminds them their own browser can do it too. Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox all translate pages, for free, and often better.
No external script
That is what sets this module apart from the old tool Google dropped in 2019, still lingering on many shops.
This one only writes links. Your pages make no network call, neither on display nor afterwards. It cannot cause a 500 error, a 504, or any slowdown. At worst, a link does not work.
Three precautions
- It does not appear in the cart, the checkout or the customer account. The translated page is served by a proxy: perfect for reading, risky for paying. Visitors read translated, then order on your real site.
- It removes the languages you already publish. Offering them machine-translated would be offering less than your own work.
- It stays invisible on a local address (.test, .local, localhost), where translation could not work. It appears on its own once online.
Why it is free
Translation relies on a Google service that Google does not guarantee. The module cannot harm your shop — it only writes links — but if that service changed one day, the links would stop working.
We do not sell what we do not control. So this module is a gift, with its user guide and its readable source, commented throughout.
Installation
Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module → drop the archive. Nothing to configure: the block places itself at the bottom of the footer.
Compatible with PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9.
